Walldrift Industries Marks 158 Years of Continued Service

Since 1868, Walldrift Industries has continued to evolve alongside the people, communities, and changing needs it serves.

Walldrift Industries is marking 158 years of continued service, recognizing generations of employees, communities, partners, and relationships that have shaped the organization since its founding in 1868.

What began more than a century and a half ago has continued to evolve alongside changing needs, new opportunities, and the people Walldrift serves.

Throughout that time, the company has remained guided by a simple belief: experience matters most when it helps prepare for what comes next.

The Walldrift of today looks considerably different from the organization established in 1868.

Generations of change have brought new responsibilities, new ways of working, and new expectations. Yet the company believes many of the principles that supported its earliest years remain equally important today.

Dependability. Relationships. Experience. And a willingness to adapt.

“Very few organizations have the privilege of measuring their history in generations. That history belongs not only to Walldrift, but to every employee, family, partner, and community that has been part of our story.”

Eleanor M. Whitcomb
President and Chief Executive Officer

Walldrift’s history has been shaped by people responding to the needs of their time.

Each generation inherited an organization influenced by those who came before while carrying the responsibility of preparing it for those who would follow.

The company continues that tradition today.

Across Walldrift’s operating areas, employees bring together experience, ideas, and resources to support responsibilities that continue changing alongside the organization.

Some practices have developed over decades. Others reflect needs that could not have been anticipated by previous generations.

Walldrift believes both are part of the same story.

“An organization doesn’t continue for 158 years by remaining unchanged. It continues by understanding what should change, what should endure, and why both matter.”

Richard H. Bell
Executive Vice President

The company’s relationship with surrounding communities has also evolved throughout its history.

Walldrift has grown alongside those communities, maintaining relationships that in some cases extend across generations.

Employees continue contributing their time, experience, and perspective while local leadership works with community partners to understand changing priorities and opportunities.

Those relationships remain an important part of how Walldrift views its place in the communities around its operating areas.

The anniversary also provides an opportunity to recognize generations of Walldrift employees.

Their work, decisions, experience, and commitment helped shape the organization inherited by today’s teams.

Many of their names remain part of company records.

Others do not.

Their contributions remain part of Walldrift nonetheless.

“Every generation leaves something behind. Sometimes it’s a process. Sometimes it’s an idea. Sometimes it’s simply a better way of doing something that becomes so familiar nobody remembers who started it. All of those things become part of an organization.”

Eleanor M. Whitcomb
President and Chief Executive Officer

As Walldrift enters its 159th year, the company remains focused on the same challenge faced by every generation before it: understanding the needs of today while preparing for those of tomorrow.

New opportunities will emerge.

Existing responsibilities will evolve.

Communities will continue changing.

And Walldrift will continue changing with them.

For 158 years, the details of that work have looked different from one generation to the next.

The commitment to continue has not.
